BEGIN:  Public parking lot at 120 Lakefront Promenade (map).

WAIVER APPLIED:  Waiver (3p PDF) regarding access to the former OPG lands (a restricted area).

NOTES:  There will be places where we will walk our bikes due to the terrain.  NO ROAD BIKES can be accommodated on this ride due to the rough condition of some roads and trails.  If you are able, bring binoculars.

► MCAC tribute: Councillor Jim Tovey - Remembered as a Champion for Cycling.

WATERFRONT VISION:  This Ride is a bike tour of places touched by Jim’s waterfront vision in the Lakeview area, in the format of a Jane's Walk, except on bikes!  Jim's Ride, if you will.  We will make some stops along the way to view locations undergoing dramatic transformation as the result of Jim's citizen visioning and subsequent work as the Ward 1 Councillor, until his untimely death on January 15, 2018.

SPECIAL ACCESS:  We’ve received permission to enter the former OPG lands (where the coal-fired power plant was).  This includes the water channel and the coal pier (shown on poster), the longest concrete pier on Lake Ontario and a future promenade for residents and visitors to the new Lakeview Village project (images).  We have been given special access to this restricted area by Lakeview Community Partners Limited (LCPL).

ROUTE MAP:  Participating in the Jim Tovey Memorial Ride will give riders a deeper appreciation of the places Jim touched and transformed, as shown on the Route MAP:
