Celebrate the inaugural “Bike to Work” day of the season with us for our Bike to Work day group ride from Riverwood Park to Mississauga’s Central Library Square, where participants will be treated to a free pancake breakfast courtesy of the Mississauga Cycling Advisory Committee.
Participants will gather at the MacEwan Barn at Riverwood Park Conservancy (4300 Riverwood Park Lane) at 7am. Enter Riverwood Park from the north side of Burnhamthorpe Road. The park is located on the eastern bank of the Credit River. Proceed to the top of the hill and follow the signs to the Barn.
The ride will leave Riverwood at 7:30am and proceed along the Ted Ho (Rathburn Road) trail to the Central Library Square for the breakfast event which will be held between 8:00 and 10:00am.
Smart Commute Mississauga is encouraging all cyclists to participate in the Bike Friday campaign by riding to work on the last Friday of each month. Riding in a group encourages novice cyclists to participate and makes cyclists more visible to motorists. Organized rides also show motorists that cycling is a viable alternative to driving.

Mississauga bike maps
We can’t ask for a better day weatherwise for this event! Those pancakes were the thickest and beefiest I have seen in recent memory. I think I’ll be having a late lunch today!
It has been another beautiful day for biking to work. Thanks to everyone who came this morning to the library square to have fun, raise awareness of cycling in Mississauga, and eat some good pancakes and sausage. It was real encouraging for me to not just see the “hardcore” commuters out there but also some “new” cyclists out on one of their first significant rides. Please post your experiences!
It was certainly a nice experience seeing so many other cyclists in downtown Mississauga, and the whole breakfast event was excellent. Thanks to everyone who helped put that together.
I wrote a little bit about this event on I Bike T.O.:
http://www.ibiketo.ca/blog/2009/05/25/good-start-bike-month-gettin-out-city
I am a new comer to Mississauga and interested in any cycling events so letting me know about the following is highly appreciated:
1. How can I know when any cycling event in Mississauga is going to be in advance?
2. Are 8 years old kids permitted to participate?
3. Where are the best cycling places in Mississauga to head to in the weekends?
Many thanks,
Cecelia
